On July 24, Mariusz Wach produced a more than respectable performance against Tyson Fury at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand, landing powerful right hands on the legend before ultimately retiring on his stool at the end of the seventh round.

While the 46-year-old, who should likely have hung the gloves up a long time ago anyway, should’ve taken a lengthy rest before returning to competition, he’s just popped up again in a truly strange match-up.

Wach took on ‘The Gypsy Team’ in a bout with K1 rules and MMA gloves, with two fighters at a time being allowed to launch punches at the 6ft7 monster.

Unsurprisingly, the numbers game took its toll, with the line-up of professional combat athletes ripping Wach apart with powerful blows. In a testament to his heart, the Pole survived the opening round and attempted to launch his own vicious shots back, but it was ultimately to no avail.

The six-man team could substitute fighters whenever they pleased, meaning Wach was having to deal with fresh opponents, who were effortlessly finding a home for their strikes to both his head and body.

By the third round, Wach’s face was covered in blood, with the powerhouse only able to muster the occasional jab, as his opponents swarmed for the finish.

The contest was ultimately stopped, with the fighting future of the former world title challenger now very unclear.
