England have bagged a spot in the Round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup 2026, but who are they most likely to play?
On Tuesday evening, Thomas Tuchel’s side were held to a 0-0 draw by Ghana at Boston Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, USA.
England could potentially face Uruguay or the Ivory Coast as well as several other teams in the Round of 32
While England fans aren’t thrilled with a draw, in all likelihood, they will still probably top Group L. This would mean they would face a third-place team from either Group E, H, I, J or K in a showdown that would be played on July 1 in Atlanta, USA.

Under the assumption that Germany, Spain, France, Argentina and Portugal will emerge victorious in those groups, and that Curacao, Jordan and Uzbekistan will be eliminated from the competition, we begin to get a clearer picture of the nation England might take on in the first knockout round of the competition.
This leaves Ivory Coast, Ecuador, Uruguay, Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Iraq, Austria, Algeria, Colombia or the Democratic Republic of the Congo as the most likely opponents for England.
