After a sublime second half of the 2025/26 campaign, Michael Carrick expected big things from his side going into the match at the weekend. Alas, his team failed to deliver, conceding two goals in the opening 45 minutes without any reply.

Following the match, reports emerged that Harry Maguire had left separately from his teammates, prompting rumours that an argument had occurred in the locker room.

However, according to The Sun, that is not the case; rather, the footballer left at a different time because of a personal issue. He had been given approval for this.

The entire squad had the day off on Sunday, so following the defeat on Saturday, they had the option to return home alone if needed.
