Michael Carrick wasn’t overly pleased with this question following Hull’s victory against Manchester United.
In a shocking result, the underdogs produced a 2-0 upset at the MKM Stadium.
Michael Carrick dismisses impact of loss to Hull
Going into the match today, Manchester United were expected to destroy Hull. However, refusing to listen to the doubters, the newly-promoted side produced a scintillating display to pick up one of the biggest victories in their history by beating the favourites for the first time in the league for 52 years.
From the start of the match, it was clear Hull weren’t merely here to make up the numbers, putting enormous pressure on the 3x European champions. And in the 17th minute, they got their reward in the form of a Semi Ajayi goal.
Shortly after, Nobel Mendy doubled his side’s lead.
Unfortunately for United, they couldn’t find a way to hit the back of the net, with Hull emerging victorious.
Following the match, Michael Carrick was somewhat riled up during an interview with TNT Sports, in which he was asked how he’ll ensure that the result won’t deflate the players and the fans.
He scoffed: “It’s one game. It’s the first game of the season. It’s disappointing enough, but it’s one game. It doesn’t change the whole course of the direction the team is going in. We’ll stay calm and in the bubble and get on with things.”
Why didn’t Amad Diallo play for Manchester United against Hull?
Having suffered such a humiliating defeat, the 20x League champions could’ve done with Amad Diallo on the pitch.
Alas, the talented footballer didn’t make an appearance.
Opening up about the situation, Carrick explained why Diallo didn’t play for Manchester United against Hull.
