Harry Kane has opened up about what Thomas Tuchel wanted from England after they went ahead against Argentina at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
In a disastrous result for ‘The Three Lions’, the 1966 champions threw away a lead to lose 2-1 in yet another semi-final defeat.
Harry Kane says Thomas Tuchel wanted England to score a second goal
Going into the game, England fans across the country genuinely believed that tonight was their night. And it looked like that dream could come to fruition when Anthony Gordon scored the opening goal.
Alas, it didn’t work out that way. In the aftermath of the game, Thomas Tuchel has received criticism from fans and pundits for going far too defensive with his substitutions.
Alas, the call didn’t work, with Argentina scoring two late goals to dump England out of the competition.
However, despite the controversial call, Harry Kane has claimed that initially the gaffer wanted his side to double its lead.
During his post-match interview with the BBC, the Bayern Munich striker explained: “The boys are always ready for any moment in the game. When we went ahead, the messaging was to go again and get another goal, and when they scored their two goals, it was to try and find something, but we couldn’t quite get the momentum back in the game.”
