Harry Kane has received major criticism for his performance against DR Congo at the FIFA World Cup 2026 from a retired England international.

Gabriel Agbonlahor slates Harry Kane
When England needed a hero, Harry Kane stepped up. Last night, fans around the country began to slowly concede to the fact that their beloved side was about to suffer a humiliating defeat. However, their captain would not let that happen. Showcasing class in abundance, Kane scored two goals, including a screamer, to secure the win for his side.
However, Gabriel Agbonlahor believes these isolated moments haven’t made up for what was, in his mind, a poor display for the rest of the fixture.
WOW: What is England’s path to FIFA World Cup 2026 final after 2-1 win against DR Congo?
On talkSPORT, he said: “The second was a fantastic goal, the first one, the keeper should have saved, but his performance for the rest of the game was atrocious. He was playing centre-midfield again, like he was in the Euros. He was giving the ball away; he offered zero for the rest of the game. He scored a great goal, against DR Congo, by the way. If we’re going to win the World Cup, Harry Kane needs to do more for the rest of the game.
