However, tonight he discovered that bare-knuckle boxing is a completely different art form from gloved boxing.

After a heated build-up, both men wanted to hit the ground running, but it was the Scotsman who claimed the early bragging rights, dropping the favourite inside the very first round.

In a testament to his bravery, Diaz bravely rose to his feet, but Hyslop wasn’t done, with the underdog throwing everything but the kitchen sink in an attempt to secure an early stoppage.

While a novice in bare-knuckle, the boxer knows a thing or two about what it takes to survive a storm, cleverly making his way through the early portion of the fight.

With Hyslop slowing down, Diaz came into the ascendancy, landing classy blows on his opponent’s face. By the last round, the favourite was in full control, but had clearly left it very late in the day.
