Liverpool star set for 35 million Inter switch

Liverpool’s Curtis Jones is reportedly edging closer to a permanent move to Italian champions, Internazionale.

The Academy graduate has fallen out of favor in recent seasons at Anfield, and has been tipped for the exit following a 16-year stint at his boyhood club, initially joining the Reds’ youth setup aged nine.

Jones set for Serie A switch

The Liverpool and England midfielder has less than a year left on his current deal with the club, and was set to become a free agent next summer.

Jones featured for Liverpool on 49 occasions last season, albeit over half of his top flight appearances from the bench.

The talented Scouser would become one of several England internationals and former Premier League players to join the Nerazzurri this summer, following John Stones and Djed Spence to Italy.

After making his debut in 2019, Jones has amassed over 200 appearances for Liverpool, winning seven trophies in that period, including two Premier League titles and a Champions League.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal in question will be a package fee, with the transfer expert posting: “EXCLUSIVE: Inter agree deal to sign Curtis Jones from Liverpool, here we go!

“Verbal agreement in place at €35m package fee from #LFC, agreement also with the player and medical being planned next.”

Should the deal go through in time, subject to registration, Jones could be eligible to play in Inter’s Serie A at San Siro on Saturday against Monza, where they will kick off their title defence.

Liverpool’s transfer window so far

Meanwhile, Liverpool are reportedly closing in on a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for forward Bradley Barcola, who would join Jeremy Jacquet, Ronald Araujo, and Victor Munoz as summer acquisitions.

Andoni Iraola’s side aren’t likely to bring in a like-for-like replacement, according to reports, at least not in time for the club’s Premier League opener away against Newcastle United on Saturday.
