Paul Scholes opened up about whether he was superior to Steven Gerrard.
Alongside Frank Lampard, the legends defined an era of Premier League midfielders.
Paul Scholes said Steven Gerrard was better than him
Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard were both truly sensational players, with unrelenting wills to win, phenomenal footballing IQs and an innate ability to pick the perfect pass.
However, when asked in a game of ‘This or That’ on Rio Ferdinand Presents, perhaps somewhat modestly, when asked to pick who the better player was between himself and his rival, he opted for the Liverpool icon.
WOW: ‘Steven Gerrard was more complete’ than Francesco Totti, says ex-Liverpool star
Scholes answered: “Gerrard. He’s a great player, brilliant. We’re very different. He’s an athlete; I think he was more of a match-winner as well, but he was playing in a team where he probably had to be. I was more part of a team; he was more individual. I wouldn’t have been able to do what he did at Liverpool. Would he have been able to do what I did at Manchester United? I don’t see why not.”
Paul Scholes: Top five goals

While renowned for his passing, the superstar certainly knew how to find the back of the net.
