Marcus Rashford could head to Arsenal, with a big-name player going to Manchester United in return, if this retired footballer gets his way.
The England star has just rejoined Michael Carrick’s side in Ireland ahead of the club’s friendly against Leeds United.
Lee Dixon wants Manchester United to swap Marcus Rashford for Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly
Former Arsenal and England defender Lee Dixon has suggested the idea of a sensational swap deal, in which Marcus Rashford would head to the Emirates and Myles Lewis-Skelly would make the switch to Old Trafford.
Last season, the striker rejuvenated his career at Barcelona, scoring 14 goals for the La Liga giants. And according to reports, he’d rather have stayed in Spain than return home.
Regardless, it appears like his boyhood club has taken him back with open arms, with Manchester United making a huge gesture to Rashford.
However, his return to the North West could be short-lived if Dixon’s proposal gets off the ground.
“Would I swap them? You know what, I probably would,” the 62-year-old told BestBettingSites. “And that’s nothing against Myles Lewis-Skelly; it’s about giving him the freedom to go and expand his game elsewhere.
“With Marcus Rashford, he’s a player who needs an arm around his shoulder, and Mikel Arteta would be great for him. Give him that love, give him the freedom to play on that left side, and yeah, I’d like to see him in an Arsenal shirt. I have my reservations about whether he’s consistently a top-class player, but based on what Arsenal have in the squad now, he’d be a good addition.”
Why Marcus Rashford has received a major salary increase
Rashford isn’t quite as fond of the club he grew up playing for as much as he once was.
However, if he does have to stay with United, the boost to his bank balance will likely soften the blow.
This is why Rashford has received a huge salary increase.
