Bruno Fernandes is likely being rested by Michael Carrick

Bruno Fernandes is undoubtedly extremely important at Manchester United, with the Portuguese superstar playing a paramount role in the way the team ticks.

However, tonight, his teammates will have to pull off a victory in the third round of the League Cup without him.

On Sunday, Fernandes had a particularly eventful game, with the midfielder kicking a grounded Phil Foden during the Manchester derby. While the United star emerged from the situation unscathed, the Englishman received a red card for booting his rival in return.

That wasn’t the only controversial moment of the game, as Erling Haaland’s winning goal caused quite the stir, with the finish being awarded despite an offside Enzo Fernandez interfering with play.

After a devastating weekend, according to Athlon Sports, Fernandes has received some time to rest from Michael Carrick.

The playmaker, who’s on the substitute bench, does not have an injury and could make an appearance at some point.
